Review: Seussical the Musical at the SumTur Amphitheater
If you’ve ever wanted to witness a Dr. Seuss book come to life, now’s your chance. Papillion La Vista Community Theater’s production of Seussical the Musical opened on Friday, July 14, at the SumTur Amphitheater with a dynamic, inclusive cast led by director Mary Dickson.
The orchestra, led by conductor Dr. David Galant, braved scorching sun to deliver a musical score that helped the stories come to life. Galant and the musicians’ fun interaction with Ferkins after intermission helped make the orchestra shine even more as overall performers.

Their path brings them into contact with some of the most famous fairy tales of all time and they learn to be careful what they wish for. This is Into the Woods and it is currently playing at the Chanticleer Theatre.

New‘The Elixir of Love’ to be presented by Muddy River Opera Company on June 24 and June 26 List Item
QUINCY — Muddy River Opera Company brings Donizetti’s “The Elixir of Love” to the stage for two live performances at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 24 and 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26 at John Wood Community College’s Mary Ellen Orr Auditorium.
“The Elixir of Love” is a light-hearted romantic comedy. In a small town, Adina and Nemorino have constantly denied their mutual affection, but the arrival of an Army sergeant and a traveling salesman brings about a series of misunderstandings and finally a happy resolution. Featuring sparkling tunes, and the famous tenor aria “Una furtiva lagrima,” this comedy is sure to amuse and delight from start to finish.

Galant named PAC Singers Director
PAPILLION — Dr. David Michael Galant, an assistant professor of music at Creighton University, was named director of the Papillion Area Community Singers in December.
Born out of the Papillion 150 Singers, the PAC Singers are an all-volunteer choral group open to everyone. Two performances are scheduled for its inaugural 2022 season.
Galant, 33, is the music director for Creighton’s University Symphony Orchestra.

Muddy River Opera Company presents “Helen” Friday night and Sunday afternoon
Muddy River Opera Company returns to the stage with the World Premiere of the opera Helen this weekend at the Mary Ellen Orr Auditorium on the John Wood Community College campus.
Helen is an adaption of Anne Brontë’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. This original opera was composed by Garrett Hope with the libretto by Quincy’s own Dr. Steven Soebbing.

FANTASTIC OPERA-TUNITY THIS WEEKEND
Hello everyone! Last week I had the opportunity to speak with some of the cast members and creative directors of The Muddy River Opera Company’s rendition of Aaron Copeland’s, “The Tender Land”. The show will be performed by the company on June 14that 7:30 pm and June 16that 3:00 pm in the Orr Auditorium at John Wood Community College. “The Tender Land” follows the story of a maturing young woman named Laurie Moss who just graduated from high school.

The Kanesville Symphony Orchestra "Wet Ink" series
DescriptioThe Kanesville Symphony Orchestra "Wet Ink" series of concerts are focused on the creation of original and exciting music by local composers and arrangers. Referencing that the ink is still very much wet on a document that has just been created, the vast majority of works within a given Wet Ink concert are designed to exhibit the creativity of the nearby area, while also showcasing new envisionings of older works. Works are written for and rehearsed by the orchestra with the composers and arrangers in attendance.

Dohnányi Masterclass for Conductors
David Galant is currently a DMA candidate in Orchestral Conducting at The Glenn Korff School of Music. This summer he will be conducting Puccini’s Suor Angelica and Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Prague Summer Nights Young Artists Festival with Sherrill Milnes and members of the Berlin Philharmonic, the Czech National Symphony, the Prague Symphony, the Czech Philharmonic, and the Czech National Opera while taking private lessons from leading teachers at the Prague Conservatory.
